Amai Malinga Naik brings more than 40 years of experience to the field of Agriculture, where he has made remarkable contributions. His journey is characterized by dedication and innovation in the realm of sustainable farming.
In his early years, Amai Malinga Naik worked as an agricultural laborer, primarily involved in the harvesting of arecanuts and coconuts in and around Adyanadka. His unwavering commitment and diligence caught the attention of a local landlord, Amai Mahabala Bhat, who recognized his sincerity and dedication. In 1978, impressed by Naik’s work ethic, Mahabala Bhat generously donated 2 acres of barren land situated atop a hill to Naik. The challenge at hand was the absence of nearby water sources. In response, Naik embarked on a determined mission to dig tunnels, known as suranga, in search of water. Through his sheer determination and resourcefulness, Naik succeeded in transforming this once-barren land into a sustainable and thriving agricultural resource. Today, this land stands as a testament to Naik’s remarkable journey, showcasing a flourishing garden, access to water resources, and sustainable man-made agriculture.
In addition to his agricultural pursuits, Amai Malinga Naik actively engages in social service and community activities. He serves as a Committee Member of the Marati Sangha in Kuddupadavu, contributing to the welfare of his community.
Awards and honors that he has received include the Varanasi Varshada Krishika Award in 2004, the Krishi Panditha Prashasthi in 2008-09, and the Asamanya Kannadiga Award. In 2018, he was honored by Suvarna News, and in 2019, he received the Lions Sadhaka Puraskara. Notably, in 2022, Amai Malinga Naik was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shree award, a testament to his outstanding contributions in the field of agriculture.
